Phoenix Gold ZP12D2 12" Streetbass Subwoofer:

The Phoenix Gold ZP12D2 is a high-performance 12-inch Streetbass subwoofer designed to add powerful low-frequency sound to a vehicle audio system.

Standard factory speakers are not normally capable of reproducing deep bass at high volume. The ZP12D2 is dedicated to producing these lower frequencies, adding greater depth, weight and impact to music.

The subwoofer features dual 2-ohm voice coils. When the two voice coils are connected in parallel, they create a final 1-ohm load for the included ZR1000.1 amplifier.

A large 3-inch oxygen-free copper voice coil helps the subwoofer manage the heat produced during demanding use. The high-gauss ferrite motor, heavy-duty double-stacked magnet and high-roll stitched surround support strong cone movement and powerful bass reproduction.

What Does the Subwoofer Do?

The ZP12D2 reproduces the deep bass frequencies that standard door speakers struggle to handle. Once installed, it gives kick drums, electronic basslines and low-frequency effects greater weight and physical impact.

Phoenix Gold ZR1000.1 Monoblock Amplifier:

A car stereo cannot supply enough power to operate a high-performance subwoofer directly. The ZR1000.1 receives the audio signal from the stereo, amplifies it and supplies dedicated power to the ZP12D2.

The ZR1000.1 is a single-channel amplifier designed for subwoofer applications. With the ZP12D2 voice coils wired in parallel, the amplifier operates at a final 1-ohm load and can deliver up to 1,000 watts RMS.

Please note that the ZP12D2's 1,500-watt RMS figure is its continuous power-handling capability. The working output of this package is determined by the included amplifier, which is rated at 1,000 watts RMS at 1 ohm.

The amplifier supports both low-level RCA and high-level speaker inputs, providing installation options for aftermarket and compatible factory stereo systems. Its AutoStart function can switch the amplifier on when a suitable high-level audio signal is detected.

What Does the Amplifier Do?

The ZR1000.1 provides the power required to drive the subwoofer. This allows the ZP12D2 to play louder and with greater control than it could when powered from a head unit.

Important Installation Information:

Professional installation is strongly recommended.

The ZP12D2 uses dual 2-ohm voice coils. To present the ZR1000.1 amplifier with a 1-ohm load, both voice coils must be connected in parallel.

The amplifier power cable must be correctly fused close to the vehicle battery. A secure chassis ground connection must be used, and all wiring should be routed away from moving parts, sharp edges and excessive heat.

The amplifier gain is not a volume control. The gain, crossover and other amplifier settings must be adjusted correctly to prevent distortion and reduce the risk of equipment damage.
