A car stereo on its own rarely drops into a modern UK car without a stack of extra parts. Bundling the stereo with a fitting kit means the fascia adapter, ISO wiring harness, aerial converter and any steering wheel control adapter are all matched to your vehicle from day one. That saves a return trip to the parts counter, removes the risk of buying the wrong loom, and gets the new head unit on the dashboard the same day it arrives.

What a fitting kit actually includes

• Fascia panel. The trim surround that fills the gap between the new single or double DIN unit and your dashboard moulding.
• ISO wiring harness. A pre-terminated loom that plugs your car factory connector straight into the new stereo, no cutting or splicing.
• Aerial adapter. Converts the factory antenna plug to the DIN standard the new stereo expects, with or without a phantom power line where needed.
• Steering wheel control adapter. Lets you keep using the volume, skip and phone buttons on your steering wheel after the upgrade.
• Cage and trim clips. The metalwork that locks the stereo into the dashboard and the small clips that hold trim back in place.

Single DIN vs Double DIN

The first thing to check is the size of your factory dashboard cavity. Single DIN is the original single slot format, still common in commercial vehicles and pre 2010 cars. Double DIN is twice the height and accommodates the larger touchscreen units that dominate the 2026 market. Many fitting kits in this collection allow a single DIN unit to be fitted into a double DIN bay with a pocket below, useful if you prefer physical buttons.
