MG car audio that fits the way the car was built

MG sports cars and saloons came from the factory with compact head units and undersized speakers. In 2026, owners want Bluetooth streaming, hands-free calls, DAB radio and bass that suits modern music without ripping the dash apart. The kits in this collection are matched to MG TF, MGF and later MG models so the new gear bolts straight in, retains stalk controls and protects resale value.

Vehicle-specific speaker pods for MG TF and MGF

The Alpine 4x6 inch rear T-bar pod kit is the headline upgrade. Each pod is shaped to the original mounting position, so the 300 watt peak two-way drivers sit in the correct acoustic space behind the seats. You keep the original look, gain real treble detail, and avoid the rattles that come from generic universal pods.

Head unit options that suit MG dashboards

Single-DIN apertures suit Pioneer DEH and JVC mechless units with Bluetooth, USB and DAB. Where you want a screen, a compact double-DIN with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto works well in MG ZS, MG 3 and MG ZT facias. Pair any head unit with a Connects2 fascia adapter and the matching ISO harness so the new unit drops in without cutting the loom.

Adding bass without losing boot space

An underseat active subwoofer is the right answer for MG TF, MGF and small MG saloons. A 200 to 300 watt sealed enclosure tucked under the passenger seat adds the low end that the original speakers cannot reach, keeps the boot free, and uses a tidy high-level input from the head unit so wiring stays simple.

Brand quality at a glance

• Alpine. Vehicle-specific MG TF and MGF rear pod kits with consistent build quality and reliable supply.
• Pioneer. Strongest all-rounder head units with Bluetooth, DAB and resistive touchscreens that suit MG dashboards.
• JVC. Affordable single-DIN and double-DIN options with clean menus and steering wheel control support.
• Focal. Component and coaxial speaker upgrades when you want studio-grade clarity in MG ZT and MG 6.
• Connects2. The UK standard for MG fascia adapters, ISO harnesses and stalk control interfaces.
• Vibe. Compact amplifiers and underseat subs that suit MG boot and cabin space.

Compatibility and fitting

• Fascia adapter. Required for any aftermarket head unit so the new stereo sits flush in the MG dash.
• ISO wiring harness. Plugs the aftermarket loom into the MG factory connector with no cutting and no soldering.
• Steering wheel control adapter. Keeps volume, track skip and phone buttons working with brands like Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood and Sony.
• Aerial adapter. Converts the MG factory aerial plug to the standard DIN fitting used on aftermarket head units.

Installation and how long it takes

A single-DIN head unit swap on most MG models is a 60 to 90 minute job for a confident DIY fitter using the correct fascia and harness. Rear pod speakers in MG TF and MGF Mk2 take longer because the trim panel needs careful removal, so allow two hours. Tuning tips for the best result

Once the new speakers are in, set the head unit equaliser flat and adjust the fader so the front stage is two-thirds dominant. Cross the underseat sub at 80 Hz with a 24 dB slope. Use a familiar reference track at moderate volume to set gains, then nudge the bass up by one click rather than turning it all the way down at the source. The result is a balanced cabin that suits both motorway cruising and country B-roads.
