Want a sub box that actually fits your boot, spare wheel well or boot floor cut-out? Our custom bass boxes are designed and built in our Wolverhampton workshop to match the subwoofer, vehicle and finish you specify. Bass Junkies has been making sealed, ported and bandpass enclosures since 1995, in MDF, carpet, vinyl or fibreglass. Quote your car, sub size and impedance and we will spec the right airspace and port tuning, then ship UK-wide fully sealed and ready to wire.

Custom bass boxes built to fit your car in 2026
An off-the-shelf sub box rarely matches your boot perfectly. Spare wheel wells, wheel arches, fuel tank intrusions and seat rails all eat the space a generic enclosure assumes is free. A bespoke box solves that by being designed around the exact volume and ports your subwoofer needs, then shaped to drop into your specific vehicle. The payoff is more bass, less rattle and a tidier finish than any universal carpeted cube can offer, plus a much higher resale value when the car moves on.
Sealed, ported or bandpass
- Sealed. Tightest sound, best for music with fast transients. Easiest to brief on car size and the safest choice for sound quality builds.
- Ported. Louder for the same wattage, ideal for hip-hop, dance and bass-heavy genres. Needs more internal volume than sealed.
- Bandpass. Maximum output across a narrow tuning band. Used in competition and SPL builds where peak dB matters more than musicality.
How the build process works
Send us the make, model and year of your car, the subwoofer you plan to run (size, impedance and recommended airspace from the manufacturer) and a few photos of the boot. We confirm a target enclosure type and finish, build it in our Wolverhampton workshop, then ship it boxed with terminal plate and grille cloth fitted. Most jobs run a five to ten working day lead time depending on backlog. Rush builds available on request for show season.
Materials and finishes
- 18mm MDF. Standard structural panel, used for the carcass on nearly every build for its density and dampening.
- Stretch boot carpet. Most common finish, fitted in black, grey or anthracite to match your boot.
- Vinyl wrap. Wipe-clean, available in matte black, gloss and textured patterns for a modern finish.
- Fibreglass moulding. Used for boot floor cut-outs and shaped spare wheel well enclosures.
- Acrylic and LED options. For show car installs, with backlit terminal plates and viewing windows.
Brand quality at a glance
- JL Audio. Our most-specified premium sub, especially the W3v3, W6v3 and W7AE drivers. Predictable airspace requirements that make custom builds straightforward.
- Kicker. Reliable workhorse, strong output for the price, popular in the L7 and CompR ranges.
- Audison. Sound quality builds, used with their TH and AP subs for tight, controlled bass.
- Rockford Fosgate. Loud, durable and easy to drive with their own Punch and Power amps.
- Vibe and Alpine. Useful options for budget and OEM-integration builds with proven UK fitments.
Compatibility and fitting
A custom box is only half the install. You will normally need the supporting kit too:
- Amplifier and wiring kit. Matched to the sub RMS rating with the right cable gauge for the run.
- Fascia adapter. Needed if you are also swapping the head unit during the build.
- ISO harness. Keeps the factory loom reversible for warranty work and resale.
- Steering-wheel control adapter. Retains stalk buttons on the new stereo.
- Aerial adapter. Converts the factory antenna plug to standard DIN for your replacement radio.
- Sound deadening. Butyl mats on the boot floor stop the panels singing along with the sub.
Spare wheel well and stealth builds
Spare wheel sub enclosures keep the entire boot floor flat. We fibreglass the bowl to lock the box in place, then upholster the lid to match your factory boot board. Ideal for company cars, family SUVs and anyone who needs to retain full boot capacity for daily use without compromise on bass.
SPL and competition boxes
If you are chasing dB numbers, we tune ports for your sub pair, your battery setup and your target frequency. We have built winning enclosures for DB Drag and Bass Race competitors over multiple seasons, with reinforced bracing and double-skinned baffles where the build calls for it.
