What a typical Ford install needs

Ford has used CANbus communication for steering-wheel controls, retained accessory power and dash chimes since the early 2000s. That means a clean install usually needs three things in addition to the stereo: a fascia adapter to convert the dashboard aperture, an ISO harness that decodes CANbus and feeds the new unit the right signals, and an aerial adapter to bridge the Ford Fakra connector to the standard DIN plug on aftermarket units. For Sync 2 and Sync 3 vehicles, vehicle-specific Halo or Connects2 vehicle-integration kits are usually the easiest route.

Compatibility and fitting
