Drive your subwoofers with proper current using monoblock car amplifiers from Bass Junkies. A dedicated mono amp is the cleanest way to run a single coil or dual voice coil sub, with a low pass filter, bass boost and subsonic filter built in to keep cone travel under control. We stock class D monoblocks from JL Audio, Phoenix Gold, Vibe, Kicker, Pioneer and Focal rated from 300 watts RMS up to 3000 watts, with optional wired bass remotes.

Monoblock car amplifiers: clean power for subwoofers in 2026
A monoblock car amplifier is a single channel Class D amp built specifically to drive subwoofers. One channel keeps the power supply and output stage focused on low frequencies, which means more current, less heat and tighter bass than running a sub off a bridged four channel. Bass Junkies stocks monoblock amps from JL Audio, Kicker, Phoenix Gold, Vibe and Audison for every budget and build size.
Why monoblock for a sub
Subwoofers need current rather than voltage swing. A dedicated mono amp uses Class D switching to push 300 to 3000 watts RMS at high efficiency, with a built in low pass crossover and subsonic filter so only the bass frequencies you want reach the driver. The amp typically includes a remote bass level dial that mounts under the dash, letting the driver adjust low end on the fly without touching the head unit.
Power ratings explained
- 300 to 500W RMS. Right size for a single 10 or 12 inch sub in a sealed enclosure, daily driver bass.
- 600 to 1000W RMS. Big single 12 inch or twin 10 inch ported install, noticeable low end.
- 1500 to 3000W RMS. Twin 12 or twin 15 inch SPL leaning install, requires high current alternator and a stiffening capacitor.
Crossover, subsonic and bass remote
Every modern monoblock includes a variable low pass crossover, usually 40Hz to 250Hz, plus a subsonic filter from 10Hz to 50Hz that protects ported subs from over excursion below tuning frequency. A bass boost circuit centred around 45Hz adds extra punch on cleaner recordings. The remote bass level pot mounts on the dash and trims sub output relative to the rest of the system.

Compatibility and fitting
Match the amp RMS rating to the sub RMS rating, not the peak figures on the box. Use a wiring kit gauge that matches the amp current draw, and run RCAs on the opposite side of the cabin to the power cable to keep alternator noise out of the signal chain.
- Amp wiring kit. 4 gauge for up to 1000W, 0 gauge for higher.
- Distribution block. Required if running more than one amp.
- RCA cable. Twisted pair shielded, mono or single channel.
- Bass remote. Included with most amps, mounts under the dash.
Sub impedance and wiring
Most monoblock amps are stable to 1 ohm. A dual voice coil 4 ohm sub wired in parallel presents 2 ohms, two such subs in parallel present 1 ohm. Check the amp specification before wiring, running below the rated minimum impedance triggers thermal protection and clipping that damages voice coils. If unsure, drop us a call on 01902 863 005 with your sub and amp model and we will confirm the wiring diagram.
