Buying guide: fascia fitting kits in 2026
A fascia fitting kit takes the guesswork out of swapping a car stereo. The single, compact box contains the surround that frames a new head unit, the ISO wiring harness that mates the vehicle plugs to standard stereo connectors and, where the car needs it, an aerial adapter. The result is a clean upgrade that looks factory rather than aftermarket, with no cutting or splicing required on most cars.
Brand quality at a glance
We only stock fascia kits from manufacturers that pass our own installer tests.
- Connects2. The British standard, with the widest vehicle coverage and consistent tolerances.
- Autoleads. Long established UK supplier with strong harness and aerial adapter ranges.
- InCarTec. Higher end mouldings with neat fit on PSA, German and Korean cars.
- Metra. Stocked for selected US import models and classic vehicles.
- ACV. European fascia and harness specialists, strong on VW Group and Mercedes.
How a fascia fitting kit works
The fascia panel replaces the original radio bezel, sized to accept a single DIN, double DIN or 9 to 10 inch tablet style screen. The harness inside the kit ends in the same multi pin connector that came out of the back of the factory radio, so the new stereo simply plugs in. CAN Bus equipped vehicles use an interface module to translate the body computer signals, including ignition live and illumination.
Single DIN versus double DIN
Single DIN fits the classic 178 by 50 mm aperture and suits CD and mech-less stereos. Double DIN is 178 by 100 mm and houses touchscreens. Some cars switched format mid generation, so always check the build date on your registration. SuperFit style 9 to 10 inch screens require a dedicated tablet style fascia kit, not a standard double DIN surround.
What is included in a typical kit
- Fascia panel. Trim that frames the new head unit cleanly.
- ISO wiring harness. Vehicle plug to standard stereo plug.
- Aerial adapter. Where the factory aerial socket differs from DIN.
- CAN Bus interface. On modern cars that need ignition and illumination decoded.
- Mounting hardware. Cage, screws and brackets where required.
Compatibility and fitting
To check the right kit, you need the make, model and exact build year, plus whether the car has a factory amp, steering wheel controls and a colour display in the dash. Each listing tells you which boxes need ticking. If you are unsure, send your registration to our team and we will confirm the right surround, harness, aerial adapter and SWC interface.
Tools you will need
Most factory radios remove with PR3 keys, the U shape pin removers or a flat trim removal tool. Once out, the new fascia clips into the dash, the harness plugs in and the stereo cage screws to the surround. Allow 30 to 60 minutes for a typical UK car. Vehicles with bonded screens or removable centre consoles can take longer.
UK stock and delivery
The vast majority of our fascia fitting kits are stocked in Wolverhampton for next working day UK delivery. Pre 9am, 24 hour and Saturday options are offered at checkout where available. Northern Ireland and the islands typically take 2 to 3 working days.
