AUX interface adaptors that unlock the factory stereo
Many factory radios from 2000 to 2015 leave the cabin without an aux input. An aux interface adaptor solves that problem by plugging into the radio quadlock or CD changer connector at the back of the head unit. A short loom brings a 3.5mm or RCA jack into the glovebox, armrest or under the dash, and the audio plays through the original amplifier and door speakers exactly like a CD source.
Connects2 CTVIMVW02 and similar VW Group modules
The Connects2 CTVIMVW02 is built specifically for Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT and Skoda head units of the RNS, RCD and Concert generation. The module enables aux audio plus, in some cases, video in motion. Power, signal and ground come from the factory quadlock so there is no cutting and no permanent modification to the loom.
Coverage across brands
VW Group adapters are the most common, but the Connects2 range also covers Ford 6000CD and Sony head units, Vauxhall Astra and Corsa CD30 and CD70 units, BMW E series with CCC and CIC head units, and several Mercedes Comand 2.0 systems. The right adapter depends on the head unit family rather than the car model so we always ask for the radio part number when advising customers.
Brand quality at a glance
- Connects2. The UK standard for plug and play aux interface adaptors across VW Group, Ford, Vauxhall and BMW.
- CTC. Compact aux modules for budget installs where the customer only needs phone audio in.
- Dension. Premium gateway boxes that add aux, USB and iPod control in one neat install.
- PAC. US specialist with strong support for North American GM and Chrysler radios sometimes found in UK imports.
- Yatour. Affordable virtual CD changer aux modules for older Mercedes, BMW and Audi units.
- Pioneer. Optional CA-VIM aux harness for older Pioneer head units that lack a rear 3.5mm jack.
Compatibility and fitting
- Fascia adapter. Only required if you are also replacing the head unit at the same time.
- ISO wiring harness. Needed where the aux module taps the loom rather than the quadlock.
- Steering wheel control adapter. Some aux modules expose CD button presses as track skip on the steering wheel.
- Aerial adapter. Not needed for aux only, but useful where the install grows to include a DAB or full head unit upgrade.
How long fitting takes
A typical aux interface adaptor fits in 30 to 60 minutes. The head unit is released with a pair of DIN keys or T20 Torx, the quadlock is unclipped at the back, the adapter is added in line, and the new aux jack is routed to the glovebox or armrest. Trim refits cleanly with no visible alteration to the dash.
Choosing the right adapter
Identify the head unit family first. VW MFD2, Audi Chorus, Ford 6000CD and Vauxhall CD30 each need a different cable. Confirm whether the unit was supplied with a factory CD changer because some modules use that channel. Some MOST style head units expose aux only after the radio is switched to the CD mode, while others use a hidden hardware enable line on pin 16 of the quadlock. Where in doubt, send a sharp photo of the radio label and the rear connector to our team and we will confirm the correct part before you order.
