Lock down a clean signal path between the head unit and the amplifier with RCA phono cables built for low-noise car audio installs. Each twisted-pair lead uses oxygen-free copper conductors, dual-shielded jackets and gold-plated plugs to reject alternator whine on long boot runs from 0.5 metre to 5 metre. We stock 2-channel and 4-channel options by Stinger, Vibe, Connects2, Hertz and Audison, plus Y-splitters where a sub feed is needed. Bass Junkies dispatches every RCA phono cable quickly across the UK.

Why RCA cable quality matters in 2026
RCA phono cables carry the unamplified signal from your head unit or processor to your amplifier and any noise picked up along the run is amplified by 30 to 40 times before it hits your speakers. A cheap unshielded lead is the single most common cause of engine whine and alternator buzz in otherwise tidy installs. The right twisted pair RCA fixes it.
Most installs run the front pair from the head unit RCA output to the amp behind the rear seat or in the boot. Adding a tuned twisted pair lead at this stage is the cheapest way to lift the system noise floor and reveal the detail the speakers are already capable of producing.
Twisted pair versus standard RCA cables
Standard RCA cables run two parallel signal conductors with a foil or braid screen. Twisted pair cables wrap the conductors around each other, cancelling induced noise from the power loom that almost always runs alongside the RCA. For any amplified install over a few hundred watts, twisted pair is the right choice and worth the small price premium.
Lengths and how to choose
Match the cable length to the actual run, not the boot to bonnet distance. A 0.5 metre lead is right for a sub amp tucked under the passenger seat. 5 metres suits a boot mounted multi amp rack fed from a dash stereo. Buying long and coiling the spare creates an antenna for noise, so size carefully.
Connector quality and shielding
Look for chunky machined connectors with a tight grip on the head unit socket. Cheap plastic connectors loosen over a few hot summers and cause intermittent dropouts. Gold plated contacts resist tarnishing in damp boots. Double shielding with a braid over a foil screen gives the best rejection in tightly packed wiring runs.
Multi channel runs for amps
Four and six channel cables let you run a single tidy loom to a class D multi amp without daisy chaining splitters. Pre terminated splitter cables are useful for feeding two amps from a single front channel pair. Always keep RCA runs at least 50 mm away from the live power cable to minimise induced hum.

Why buy RCA cables from Bass Junkies
Buying tips for 2026
Measure the actual cable run in your car with a piece of string from head unit out to amp in, then add 0.5 metres for service loop. Always run RCA cables down the opposite side of the car to the power cable. If you already have hum, swap a single channel pair to a twisted pair lead first and listen for the change before replacing the whole loom. Good RCA outlives most amps and is worth buying once at the right grade.
Bass Junkies has been fitting and selling RCA cables from our Wolverhampton workshop since 1995. We carry every common length in twisted pair from Stinger, Vibe and Connects2 with same day weekday dispatch and real noise diagnosis support over the phone. Call 01902 863 005 if you have hum in an existing install and we will help you trace it.
